Auction Advice

Auctions can be a wonderful way to buy and sell antiques and fine art but differences in sellers and buyers fees, absentee bids, reserves and estimates can also make it confusing for the uninitiated.

With many years of experience as an auctioneer and valuer, I can guide you through the whole process of buying and selling at auction and help you get the best possible service from any auction house you choose.

Buying at Auction

If you are thinking of buying at auction and need to search for a specific item I can help with your search, and work with you and the auction house to find out as much as possible about a piece prior to the sale. I can examine condition reports, descriptions, estimates and buyers fees to help you make an informed bid, and I can even bid on your behalf. If you are successful I can also organise the collection and delivery of your item to your home.

Selling at Auction

If you are thinking of selling at auction I can help you decide where to sell, to achieve the best price, whether it is through a general or specialist sale, or a local or international auction house.  I can negotiate between you and the auction house to attain improved selling fees. I can check that your agreed reserve is balanced, ensuring your items are not undersold but are still aimed at encouraging potential bidders. I can also arrange the collection and delivery of your item or items to the auctioneer prior to sale.
